The story and ongoing work of Bob W. Melton — public
servant, executive, writer, poet, songwriter, conservationist and Texan.

Living life fully. Still creating. Still giving back.

Bob Melton’s life has unfolded across many distinct chapters, each shaped by curiosity, conviction, and service. From self-made beginnings, to years serving in the Texas House of Representatives, to leadership roles in civic and sports organizations, Bob has consistently leaned into work that matters.

Along the way, life took him abroad to Mexico, where perspective widened and priorities sharpened. Today, based in Florida, his focus is both reflective and active: writing songs and stories, advocating for worthwhile causes, and rescuing and fostering wildlife in need.

This site exists to preserve those chapters — not as a retrospective, but as a living record. A place to explore where he’s been, what he’s learned, and what he’s still creating.

Still creating.
Still giving back

Today, he devotes his time to three passions.

RESCUING AND FOSTERING WILDLIFE
Now living in Florida, Bob is actively involved in rescuing, rehabilitating, and fostering injured or displaced wildlife. Working closely with local wildlife organizations and volunteers, he helps care for animals that would otherwise have little chance of survival, reflecting a belief that responsibility begins with showing up when help is needed.

WRITING AND PUBLISHING SONGS
Music is a particularly personal creative outlet for Bob. His songwriting explores memory, place, aging, resilience, and the emotional undercurrents of ordinary life. Some songs are reflective, others pointed, all grounded in lived experience rather than abstraction.

SPEAKING UP FOR SOCIAL CAUSES
Bob continues to speak publicly and privately on social and civic issues he believes deserve attention. Drawing on decades of experience in public service and leadership, he remains willing to lend his voice where it can add clarity, perspective, or advocacy. Whether through writing, conversation, or community engagement, this work reflects a conviction that citizenship does not end with office or title. It is an ongoing responsibility.
