A career spent working on policy, for the people.
(Isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be?)

When I was in government I worked very hard for the people who elected me, and the people of the State of Texas. During my time in office, I was proud to sponsor legislation that was statewide and addressed some important issues, and I was also able to work on some issues close to home. Much of my career was spent working on important legislation and was sponsored and passed, as well as a few laws that affected only one county but were still important,.

Here are some examples:

State wide:

  • HB 55 Saved State...$125 Million Lone Star Gas Settlement (Privilege tax) Bob Bullock ask me to pass. (Gave me a lot of credibility)

  • Speed Trap Legislation (Stopped many of the state's small city speed traps.)

  • Runaway Throw Away Kids (220K Annual push out keeping kids out of prison & making parents responsible)

  • Multiple Murder Bill/Second Murder (Death Punishment Eligible)

  • Jerry the Animal McFadden Bill (Making violent criminals serve the whole sentence)

  • Sex Offender legislation (Mandating Counseling before release in Omnibus Prison Bill)

  • Opposing Death Penalty for (Mentally for the mentally retarded pushing Supreme Court to modify)

Committee Work: Getting in & out of subcommittees and to the floor

  • Homeowner Protection vs. Developer Protection (on roads)

  • Economic Development Early Sponsor 4 B Tax Legislation Sponsor Wide Use of Sales Tax for Economic development

Early Successes:

  • Law Amending Statute Requiring small cities to hire more (EMTs) Ambulance Emergency Technicians (Governor Vetoed)
