Reflections

Bob Melton is a published author, poet and songwriter; he has authored over 350 songs and poems. He is currently working on his memoir depiction of his life around music, writing about public affairs, politics, public service, elective office & running a sports non-profit.

For several years Bob was active in the Austin, Texas music scene. He signed with Broadcast Music Inc (BMI) in the 1990’s as a songwriter.

He served on the board of directors for the Austin Songwriters Group, (ASG) each year helped organize the “Austin Songwriters Conference” which connected Texas Songwriters’ through “Pitch Sessions” with Music Industry leaders from Nashville, Los Angeles and New York.

Over those years Bob served as a judge in numerous songwriting contests and showcases. He helped develop the

BMI/ASG Singer Songwriter Series at the Backyard in Austin.

As Olympic Chair, he produced a Singer Songwriter Showcase at Austin City Limits for the United States Olympic Committee fundraiser. He has had a number of songs recorded and performed by Texas Artists and Bands. After a layoff of several years is again writing and has authored several songs this year.
