“On Wing a Leaf, a Feather or Kite”
Life in the air is exhilarating, mere mortals will never know
Why they can't take wing, lifted on high, looking on all below
Looking down, looking up or from which treetop I've flown
Shimmering colors dancing to and forth while soaring all alone
I turn and seem suspended while held up on high
I fall toward earth so gradually, then lifted back to sky
I may waft, I may swoop, sail with the breeze or fall swiftly like stone
Heat lifts me up, winds send me sailing above, it's all I've ever known
From the same breeze where it all began, above treetops I flow
They can only look up and see but will never really know
I may drift, I may shift, I may rise, swiftly or slowly back to the skies
Then fall to earth before I take flight, a leaf a feather or kite
