Once a Year Cowboy

He’s a once a year cowboy though he dreams every day

Of wide open spaces and riding the range

It’s all about horses cattle and such

About wide open spaces and skies up above

Being a cowboy each year with great pride

He’s saddled up for the annual trail ride

Getting back in the saddle, back on horseback

Like his heroes of old he’ll ride the outback

It’s a chance to play cowboy and ride the outback

With all those pretty cowgirls it’s a party on horseback

Down cross the river, up around the bend

We’ll be buddies in the saddle until the days end

Each night around the campfires red glow

We’ll sing songs and tell stories of drovers of old

How the west was won how women were loved

Not much truth to any, sure are some fun

Getting back in the saddle, back on horseback

Like his heroes of old he’ll ride the outback

It’s a chance to play cowboy and ride the outback

With all those pretty cowgirls it’s a party on horseback

Up in the morning we’ll ride after chuck

Hot biscuits and gravy if we have any luck

Spurs will be jingling, spit tobacco in the wind

Out on the prairie until the days end

It’s all cowboys and cowgirls and land that we love

About riding the range neath God’s skies above

It’s all about horses, cattle and such

About wide open spaces and skies up above

It’s a chance to play cowboy and ride the outback

With all those pretty cowgirls it’s a party on horse back

We‘ll never give up cause each year at this time

We’ll once again be cowboys on the annual trail ride.

We’ll once again be cowboys on the annual trail ride.
